Advanced Smoking Cessation

When starting out in hypnotherapy, scripts are an invaluable tool to get you pointed down the path to a positive outcome with yours clients. Some scripts are outstanding, and some you may discard along the way as your proficiency changes and advances. The client session that I do the most is smoking cessation. I use Terence Watts' smoking program as a basis, and it is wonderful. I strongly recommend it.
I have moved a bit beyond his program, although a large portion still remains. Before we start the hypnotic session, the client fills out a smoking questionnaire. It is 1-1/2 pages, but it gets the client thinking about the cigarettes. When done, we briefly discuss the information in the questionnaire. We jump back to Terence's script to mention John Hill, who determined the links between tobacco and cancer. We fully discuss first starting smoking, and the circumstance around it. I use a script with a certain amount of NLP in stop smoking now and the client also gets a water bottle to sip from, and a rubber band for his wrist to go back to the first terrible cigarette. With all of these contained in the session, it is highly successful!

 Spiritual Hypnosis

Can we help clients access Divine wisdom during hypnosis? Over 30 years ago during parts therapy, an overweight client had two parts that would not agree to a resolution. I called out that part of her that was most closely connected to God or Higher Power, and “Holy Spirit” resolved her problem in less than five minutes. Finally, in 1999, I brought spiritual hypnosis out of the closet; and learned that many hypnotherapists around the world made the same discovery. During the webinar I will discuss the basic concept, and WHY spiritual hypnosis must be client centered.

Buddhist Psychotherapy & Compassionate Hypnotherapy

I developed compassionate hypnotherapy over many years. This was the result of me leaving the UK in the 1990s and integrating my experience of Ericksonian hypnosis with Buddhist principles that I encountered as a Buddhist monk in Thailand. When I returned to teaching a few years ago I found that my previous Ericksonian approach had evolved, especially my values and my perception of the purpose of therapy. As an adjunct to this I started practising Buddhist psychotherapy with an emphasis on the principle of non-attachment. I found this approach to be highly effective with almost all problems presented by clients in a hypnotherapy practice. So nowadays I still teach Ericksonian hypnosis but within the context of compassion, and I teach Buddhist psychotherapy as a personal development and spiritual therapy for clients.

 Understanding Autoimmune Disease

An ever-growing portion of the population suffers from autoimmunity, whether they know it or not. There are more than 100 types (including psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, ulcerative colitis, lupus, fibromyalgia, lyme, vitiligo and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis) and autoimmune diseases have become the third leading cause of death, behind heart disease and cancer. In this talk, we will discuss:
  • The role of the immune system
  • How autoimmune diseases start and evolve
  • How to recognize early signs of autoimmunity
  • Coaching clients to understand they have the power to heal from within
  • Assisting clients with symptoms and helping them on the road to reversing their autoimmune condition.

 Honouring the Dead

This technique enables the hypnotherapist to help their client to overcome sadness, desperation, depression and guilt with regard to someone in their life who died. This is ideal if there are issues around miscarriage, abortion or the death of anyone important in the client’s life - child, parent, grandparent etc. The technique allows the client to peacefully reconnect with the deceased and move forward into their future.
