“The sooner we heal our traumas, the sooner we liberate ourselves from the people who hurt us. By hating them, we hold onto them. We cannot heal.” — Vironika Tugaleva

Life—how tough can it be? I have personal experience of living through the vicissitudes of life and so far managed to survive. And that is the key, isn’t it—survival?  How do we continue to survive when we are not firing on all four cylinders? By that, I mean feeling stressed and burned out. Enduring survival while battling mental health issues requires unwavering resilience and compassionate support.

Survival amid mental health issues demands unparalleled strength, and an unyielding determination to navigate through each day's tumultuous waves. It's a journey that demands more than physical resilience; it requires an unbreakable spirit. Every step becomes a marathon, a battle waged not only against external obstacles but against relentless internal struggles. The battle isn't just to survive physically but to preserve the fragile balance of the mind, constantly teetering on the edge. In these moments, survival isn't just about breathing; it's about finding a glimmer of hope amidst the storm, seeking solace in the smallest victories, and clinging to the belief that healing is possible, even in the darkest of times. It's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit to endure, adapt, and seek help when the weight of mental health challenges feels overwhelming.

Hypnotherapy can play a significant role in aiding survival and enhancing mental health by tapping into the subconscious mind and influencing thought patterns, emotions, and behaviours. While it might not directly impact physical survival in life-threatening situations, it can profoundly affect mental well-being and resilience, which are vital aspects of coping and thriving.

Here's how hypnotherapy can help with survival and mental health:

  1. Stress Reduction: Hypnotherapy techniques, such as guided imagery and relaxation, can alleviate stress responses. Reducing stress enhances mental clarity, decision-making, and the ability to manage difficult situations effectively.

  2. Anxiety and Phobia Management: Hypnotherapy can address anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and phobias by reprogramming the mind's responses to triggers, thereby lessening their impact and enabling individuals to face challenging situations with more ease.

  3. Trauma Resolution: For individuals dealing with trauma or PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), hypnotherapy can aid in processing traumatic experiences, alleviating distressing symptoms, and fostering emotional healing.

  4. Enhanced Coping Strategies: Hypnotherapy helps in developing coping mechanisms and resilience by fostering a positive mindset, teaching relaxation techniques, and boosting self-confidence, all of which are crucial in managing adversity.

  5. Behavioural Changes: By accessing the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy can facilitate changes in behaviour and habits. It can assist in overcoming negative behaviours, promoting healthier lifestyle choices, and reinforcing positive thinking patterns.

  6. Improved Sleep and Mental Clarity: Hypnotherapy techniques can aid in improving sleep quality and enhancing mental clarity, enabling individuals to function better and make clearer decisions, which are vital aspects of survival in challenging circumstances.

While hypnotherapy can be beneficial, it's essential to seek professional guidance from a certified hypnotherapist or mental health professional. It's not a replacement for medical treatment in life-threatening situations, but it can be a supportive tool for mental health enhancement and coping mechanisms.

Other Areas

I also work with BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® (BWRT®). BWRT® is a relatively new form of psychotherapy that aims to help individuals cope with various mental health issues by addressing the underlying patterns and reactions in the brain.

BWRT can significantly assist individuals dealing with mental health challenges by targeting specific issues such as anxiety, phobias, trauma, stress, and emotional regulation. By rewiring automatic thought processes and responses, BWRT aims to help individuals create more adaptive and healthier ways of reacting to triggers and stressors.

In terms of survival during challenging mental health episodes, BWRT might offer benefits:

  1. Reducing Emotional Reactivity: By addressing the root cause of emotional reactions, BWRT can help individuals manage intense emotions more effectively, enabling them to navigate difficult situations with greater composure.

  2. Changing Automatic Patterns: BWRT aims to modify automatic negative thought patterns, enabling individuals to respond differently to triggers or stressors that might otherwise exacerbate mental health issues.

  3. Enhancing Coping Strategies: BWRT helps in developing more adaptive coping strategies, providing individuals with tools to handle stress, anxiety, or trauma triggers more effectively.

  4. Improving Resilience: By altering the brain’s responses, BWRT can potentially enhance an individual’s resilience, allowing them to better cope with ongoing challenges and adversity.

  5. Facilitating Positive Change: BWRT assists in promoting positive behavioural changes, aiding individuals in developing healthier habits and responses that contribute to their overall mental well-being.

While BWRT might not directly impact survival in extreme physical situations, it can significantly improve an individual’s mental health, which is essential for resilience, coping, and managing life’s challenges. It’s important to seek professional guidance and therapy tailored to individual needs when considering BWRT or any other therapeutic approach for mental health concerns.
