New Horizon Training – Working With Addiction and Dependency Patterns in Hypnotherapy Practice
Clearer boundaries. Better questions. Safer practice.
Price: £95
Tutor: Lisa Williams Edgar, Clinical Integrative and Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, Trainer and Supervisor. Founder of NHTA.
Would you know how to respond if a client disclosed that alcohol use, drug use or another dependency-related pattern had become part of the way they switch off, manage emotions, escape stress or get through the week?
Many hypnotherapists will encounter clients where alcohol or drug use forms part of the wider presenting picture. Others may disclose gambling, compulsive online behaviours, compulsive shopping or other repetitive coping patterns involving cycles of relief, reward, shame, avoidance and repetition.
This practical and thought-provoking five-hour CPD workshop has been created to help hypnotherapists feel clearer and more confident when alcohol use, drug use, dependency or compulsive coping patterns arise within the therapy room.
It is not a workshop about diagnosing addiction, managing detoxification, providing rehabilitation or working outside professional competence. The focus is on understanding where hypnotherapy can appropriately support change, asking more helpful questions, recognising risk and working safely within clear professional boundaries.
Drawing upon an integrative and solution-focused hypnotherapy perspective, the workshop explores the underlying processes that can keep clients stuck, including habit, reward, learned association, emotional regulation, relief-seeking, shame, avoidance and behavioural repetition.
During the workshop, we will explore:
- the differences between habit, coping patterns, harmful use, addiction and dependency;
• how alcohol use, drug use, gambling and other compulsive behaviours can become connected with relief, escape, identity and routine;
• the role of habit loops, reward, reinforcement and emotional regulation;
• what to explore during the initial consultation;
• recognising red flags and circumstances in which additional or specialist support may be needed;
• clearer professional boundaries, scope of practice, referral and collaborative working;
• sensitive, non-confrontational therapeutic language that reduces shame and supports honest conversation;
• solution-focused questions that help clients notice motivation, resources, exceptions and possibilities for change;
• working therapeutically with urges, routines, triggers and repetitive coping patterns;
• appropriate hypnotherapy approaches for emotional regulation, behavioural change, future-focused work and strengthening choice;
• supervision, practitioner confidence and responsible clinical decision-making.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for qualified and student hypnotherapists, solution-focused hypnotherapists and integrative practitioners who would like a clearer and more professionally grounded framework for working with addiction, dependency, substance use and compulsive coping patterns.
It does not qualify attendees as addiction specialists, substance-misuse practitioners or rehabilitation professionals. The focus is on supporting clients appropriately within the practitioner’s existing qualifications, competence, insurance and professional scope.
Smoking and vaping cessation are covered within a separate New Horizon Training Academy CPD, as these presentations often benefit from a more specific and structured cessation approach.
What is included?
Attendees will receive a pre-workshop workbook to support reflection and preparation before the training, together with a comprehensive post-workshop resource pack containing practical guidance, therapeutic language, step-by-step tools, techniques and signposting resources.

SFTA training academy – Hypnoesitherapy – Rapid Trance Protocol for chronic pain

• What if you could confidently deliver a structured protocol that reduces chronic discomfort in minutes
• What if you understood the exact neurological mechanisms behind rapid pain modulation
• What if your clients left their very first session experiencing measurable relief and renewed hope
Why this training is different
No other provider currently teaches this structured hypnoesitherapy protocol in a clinically grounded, ethically framed CPD format.
This structured, step-by-step neurological approach is designed to support fast pain reduction, often producing noticeable relief straight away or within 48 hours.
By the end of the course, you will have:
Chronic pain does not just affect the body. It affects mood, sleep, confidence, identity and hope. Many clients living with ongoing discomfort begin to withdraw from activities they once enjoyed. They may feel misunderstood, frustrated or exhausted from constantly managing symptoms. Over time, pain can narrow their world, increase anxiety and low mood, and reduce their sense of control. Supporting pain modulation is not simply about reducing sensation. It is about restoring agency, improving quality of life and helping clients reconnect with who they are beyond their symptoms.
Why we need to offer hypnoesitherapy
In the UK nearly one in every two adults lives with some degree of chronic pain — that equates to just under 28 million people experiencing ongoing discomfort lasting three months or more. This includes millions whose pain significantly limits daily activities. By comparison, there are only around 300 recognised pain clinics operating within the NHS, most based in hospitals with multidisciplinary teams. This imbalance highlights the gap between the vast number of people in pain and the limited number of specialised services available to support them. There is a need for broader access to effective pain modulation skills across clinical and allied health professions.
This is a unique opportunity to train in the Hypnoesitherapy Technique. This CPD introduces Hypnoesitherapy as a clear, structured protocol inspired by the work of Ángel Escudero and integrated with modern clinical hypnosis and current neuroscience.
When delivered with skill and confidence, the protocol can support a measurable reduction in chronic discomfort, often within as little as 7.5 minutes.
This training is practical, applied and designed for immediate clinical use.
