About the APHP
The Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (APHP Ltd) was founded in 1999 by Terence Watts and his wife Julie, and later joined by its sister register, the National Register for Psychotherapists and Counsellors (NRPC)

Terence has always been an inspirational therapist and teacher, working tirelessly in the field of therapy. He has published many books, trainings, and concepts, always making strides in advanced neuroscience.
During their 22-year stewardship, Terence and Julie worked continually to enhance standards of the hypnotherapy profession, they also set the benchmark for hypnotherapy training standards very high.
New management, same gold standard
In 2021, Georgina McKinnon took the helm of the APHP and the NRPC and became Chairwoman. (She is now also chair of UKCHO)
Georgina invited Emma Evans to become Co-Director, and together they work hard to ensure that the original ethos of The Association absolutely remains.
Our standards are designed to advance the hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and counselling professions and to serve the public in terms of setting a benchmark for good practice among our members.
As well as Georgina & Emma, there are other members of our team who work to keep things running smoothly, as outlined below.
